Lou Martin is a contemporary Aboriginal artist (Wiradjuri), originally from New South Wales, however now calls Queensland’s Sunshine Coast home (Gubbi Gubbi country). Lou is a wife and mother of two, and although she has been painting throughout her life, she only recently began sharing her work.
Lou feels a deep connection to the land and her pieces are often a reflection of this. Her coastal and hinterland surroundings, as well as their people and the importance of family and community, are often the inspiration for her work. Painting and creativity run through her family and her work connects her to generations past. Lou has a contemporary approach to traditional dot painting and a passion for colour to bring her stories to life.
