Amie de Hoog is an artist living and practicing on Wadawurrung land in Geelong. Her paintings are inspired by the coastal seascapes, flat plains and rolling hills in her local area. Mostly working in acrylic paint on a wooden surface, her paintings explore the contrast of textured landforms with flat, expansive skies. Amie builds up texture in her work by layering new paint alongside recycled paint from previous palettes. She likes to challenge the use of colour in her landscapes by pairing unconventional colours together and exploring a graphic style, leaning towards realism. Amie is married to Chris and they enjoy getting out in nature with their four children.
