FRAMED

Framed artwork refers to an art piece that has been professionally enclosed in a timber frame, such as an oak timber shadow box frame. This style of frame adds depth by spacing the artwork slightly away from the edge of the stretched canvas or mounted paper with glass, creating a clean, modern look while protecting the piece. The timber frame not only enhances the natural beauty of the artwork but also adds a refined, gallery-style finish—ready to hang and enjoy.

UNFRAMED

An unframed painting refers to an artwork that has been professionally stretched over a timber stretcher bar, without an external decorative frame. While it doesn’t have a traditional outer frame, the canvas is tightly mounted and ready to hang as is, offering a clean, modern presentation that highlights the edges of the artwork. This style is popular for its minimalist, gallery-style look.

READY TO HANG

A ready to hang artwork is fully prepared for immediate display. For canvas pieces, this means the artwork is professionally stretched over a timber stretcher bar and does not include an outer timber frame, creating a clean and taut surface. It also comes fitted with secure hanging hardware—such as a wire, D-rings, or hooks—so you can hang it straight on the wall, right out of the box. 

UNFRAMED & ROLLED IN TUBE

This means the original painting is not framed and has been carefully rolled inside a tube with protective layers for safe transportation. This is common for oversees shipments to save on freight costs. Once the customer receives the tube, the artwork should then be opened by a professional framer as soon as possible, to avoid any potential damage. Canvas and Paper artworks are fragile and must be treated with professional care.

Marrumbang - Series 2 - Guided Hope - is an unframed Limited Edition Giclee Art Print by contemporary Aboriginal artist, Lou Martin

Originally painted with acrylic on canvas. Artwork is unframed and shipped in industrial strength art tube. 

*Trigger Warning*  - Guided Hope is about the journey to parenthood, and is both reflective and personal for me.  Becoming a parent isn't always simple, and many of us experience the highs of hope and the lows of losss along the way.

Under the rainbow are two U-shapes, representing mother pregnant with child to reflect numerous stages:  a longed for pregnancy, a current stage, a loss, or even a child who has well grown, even into adulthood.  In the top corners are six gold stars.  For me, they represent a pregancy lost and my old people, my ancestors, caring for her, and watching over and guiding us.  We all hope for better days and better ways, and hold hope for the future, and with the help of those in the stars, we can always retain guided hope.
