Jagun & Gaagal (Land and Sea) is a limited edition canvas print created by Australian mother-daughter art duo Miimi & Jiinda, founded by Lauren Jarrett and Melissa Greenwood. As proud Gumbaynggirr custodians, Lauren and Melissa love to share their interpretations of Country, which spring from their own personal cultural identities as Aboriginal women.
Jagun means land and gaagal means sea in Gumbaynggirr. This artwork symbolises the connection between our beautiful country and the ocean, and how they intertwine and support one another and us on our journeys in this lifetime. We plant our feet on the ground to feel connected to the universe and feel grounded in our bodies so we can live in the present moment. And we cleanse our bodies in the sea to wash away all the worries and revitalise our spirit.
