Gurryjuuga Miirlarl is a canvas print created by Australian mother-daughter art duo Miimi & Jiinda, founded by Lauren Jarrett and Melissa Greenwood. As proud Gumbaynggirr custodians, Lauren and Melissa love to share their interpretations of Country, which spring from their own personal cultural identities as Aboriginal women.
This artwork is inspired by a special place, on the Orara River in Northern Rivers NSW, called Gurryjuuga which means honey suckle. This place was made by our Gumbayngirr hero ancestor back in the dreaming and holds sacred meaning. Anyone visiting this area must speak to the Miirlarl and the hero ancestors and ask permission to be there. It holds a very soft, gentle and uplifting energy and will brighten any space.
