'Bambuuda Garlaawirr' (Morning light)
As I stand high up on the mountain and look over my Gumbaynggirr homeland, I witness my breathtaking Country. Amongst the sand dunes below are the beautiful and intricate pink flowers of the pig face plant, our local bush tucker that bares salty fruit during the spring and summer months.
The Bindarray River and Gaagal Ocean intertwine, their tides ebbing and flowing in the warm, morning light. Watching over country is Gawngan, our revered female ancestor, guiding and protecting our people.
