Miimi and Jiinda is an award-winning Contemporary Indigenous Art and Design brand that has experienced remarkable growth, embracing culture, community, and the importance of storytelling. Founded by a Gumbaynggirr mother and daughter, Melissa Greenwood and Lauren Jarrett, the organisation is driven by a deep connection to their culture and a passion for creativity. They began by creating original artworks, which became the foundation of their growing brand. Their journey has led to major milestones, including becoming the first Indigenous brand featured on Channel 9’s The Block. They also made history as the first Indigenous brand to collaborate with Australia’s largest national homewares retailer, Adairs. This partnership was a huge success, with their collection selling out across 140 stores and online within just 24 hours. With three consecutive runway collections at Australian Fashion Week, Melissa and Lauren now bring culture and creation stories to the Fashion Industry, paving way for new storytelling through Art, Design and Fashion. Miimi and Jiinda were awarded the prestigious NIFA award for community collaboration, recognising their commitment to supporting their community. Their commitment to giving back is evident in their consistent support for mob, demonstrated through donations and the provision of employment and mentorship opportunities. Miimi & Jiinda specialises in creating one-of-a-kind Indigenous artworks wearable art hailing from Gumbaynggirr Country on the mid-north coast of NSW.
