Marrumbang VI is an unframed Limited Edition Giclee Art Print by contemporary Aboriginal artist Lou Martin, originally painted with acrylic on canvas. Artwork is unframed and shipped in industrial strength art tube
The Wiradjuri language has several words and different terminology for love, however 'Marrumbang' means love and kindness. At a time when every corner of the world could use more of it, this is Lou's way to project marrumbang.
Underneath the rainbow there are two U shapes (a contemporary representation of the traditional symbol for a person) representing mother pregnant with child, signifying their bond, and evidenced from the womb and beyond. Whether a parent-to-be, or parent of old, this Marrumbang piece is a celebration of life. It is feminine and detailed, and is the latest in the Marrumbang series.
Texture has been added in the base coats, with a golden rainbow in the foreground and bronze surrounding. These bold brights have been toned down with two-tone peachy-pink pastels. Although this is a contemporary Aboriginal piece, traditional elements provide a solid contrast.
