Marrumbang V is a Limited Edition Giclee Art Print by contemporary Aboriginal artist Lou Martin, originally painted with acrylic on canvas. Artwork is unstretched and shipped in an industrial strength art tube.
The Wiradjuri language has several words and different terminology for love, however 'Marrumbang' means love and kindness, and at a time when every corner of the world could use more of it, this Lou's way to spread the good stuff. The U-shape is a traditional Aboriginal symbol for a person, and the two figures under the rainbow are a contemporary representation of Mother and Daughter.
Texture was added to the base coats of the original, the lower portion being gold metallic acrylic and the top being textured bronze acrylic. These bold brights have been toned down with pastels. Although this is a contemporary Aboriginal piece, the traditional elements provide a solid contrast.
