Nancy is a Melbourne-based artist whose work is a textural exploration of nature’s emotional and symbolic language through floral forms. Flowers carry a universal resonance, embodying resilience, delicacy, beauty and vitality and these qualities sit at the heart of her practice. Working primarily in acrylic, Nancy uses an impasto technique to build thick, sculptural layers of paint that invite viewers to engage not only visually, but almost physically, with colour, form and texture.
Her process begins with photographs of flower bouquets or individual blooms, selected for their structure, mood or presence. These images are digitally manipulated to create balanced compositions before being translated onto canvas. Using palette knives, Nancy applies paint in dense, tactile strokes, leaving ridges and edges that catch the light and cast shadows.
Trained as a graphic designer, Nancy co-owns a design and advertising studio and has spent over 25 years creating commercial campaigns across digital media. Her creative practice spans multiple disciplines, including large-scale murals, stage sets, landscapes and portraiture. Nancy has exhibited her work in Melbourne, bringing her vibrant, expressive florals with energy, warmth and individuality to any space.
