SOMA, in ancient Greek religion, was the term used to refer to the physical body as distinct from the soul or spirit. It was believed to be a mortal and temporary aspect of human existence, while the soul was considered to be immortal and eternal. This concept plays an important role in our philosophical thought, and is closely linked to the idea of the dual nature of man.
Jacob Jon, a contemporary artist known for his vibrant use of colour and diversity, has created a new collection that explores the theme of the body and its relationship to the Earth. Titled "SOMA," the collection depicts human forms made from clay and earth suggesting the constant interplay between the physical and spiritual aspects of human existence.
