From her home studio in Naarm/Melbourne, artist Zoe Jones challenges traditional workings of woven and rug-hooking techniques to construct unique contemporary textile artworks using innovative & sculptural processes.
Zoe has a BA in communication/theatre and has lived a life of various professional creative endeavours from graphic design, illustration, props-making, to producing animations. But what really drew her to these previous roles and to textiles is the art of storytelling.
Although abstract, there’s a strong sense of storytelling in Zoe’s work through the use of the fibres she sources. The striking hand-dyed recycled or natural materials that Zoe sources are an artistry of their own. The imperfections & embellishes add character and history to her artworks, a history present before she has even begun.
