That Golden Summer (Mount Martha) is an original framed artwork by Mitchell English. The work is acrylic on canvas and framed in Tasmanian oak.
Mitch's work is unapologetically Australian. Through his depictions of idealised, coastal imagery, he perfectly portrays our signature laid-back lifestyle, and our yearning for space and freedom.
"I made a decision after school to never live more than walking distance from the beach. I've stuck to that, and it's clear to see that it’s been a major influence on my work."
Mitch has been a Finalist in the Geelong Contemporary Art Prize, Fleurieu Biennale, Mosman Art Prize, Paddington Art Prize, Shirley Hannan National Portrait Prize and the Clayton Utz Art Award, among other prizes.
The gold in this painting is more expensive than regular paint. It is both extremely time consuming to paint and extremely unforgiving to use, hence Mitch's works in gold are more expensive than other works by him (not in gold) of the same size.
Dimensions: 120 x 90 cm, 3cm deep.
