Miimi is an original acrylic on canvas painting by contemporary Aboriginal artist Lou Martin.
Miimi translates to sister in the Wiradjuri language. Central to the painting is a contemporary representation of the traditional Aboriginal symbol for people sitting. As traditional roles would stipulate, women were to care for children, gather bush tucker and prepare food. In doing so, the women would congregate and sit together in somewhat of a sisterhood. Painted in a contemporary pastel pallete, this is a contemporary representation of women helping out other women.
