Trained designer and art educator, Lauren Barton has worked in various roles throughout her career, including graphic and product design within the surf industry as well as interior and styling projects.
Her focus has been painting bright expressive landscapes for many years, now evolving into ceramics with her hand built sculptural pieces exploring shape and texture. With designs inspired by her beloved Surfcoast surroundings and the contrast of rugged bushland and the pristine ocean.
All pieces are hand-built by Lauren in her Surf Coast Studio, Bellbrae Clay on the iconic Great Ocean Road, between Torquay and Anglesea.
Lauren's work display bold graphics, patterns and textures, these elements embody her vibrant and relaxed coastal lifestyle.
Lauren's vision is to transport her audience to their local beach or exotic seaside destinations. Her creations capture the feeling of chasing the sun to places where the sand is hot, the salt lingers in your hair, and the water swirls around the rocks.
Lauren’s beautiful ceramic objects blur the lines between decorative art and functional ware.
FAVE SONG?
It’s a tie between Whitney Houston's 'How Will I Know' & 'I Have Nothing’' All Whitney to be honest.
FAVE MOVIE?
Midnight in Paris & Dirty Dancing
FAVE RECIPE?
I love creamy pasta and noodles. Our family go-to is creamy pesto pasta, it’s one of the few dishes my kids enjoy…
FAVE MOMENT?
Fav moment is a hard one… not sure, but I love looking back on old pictures and videos on my phone and laptop with my kids. They think the little versions of themselves are hilarious, and at the time I might not of realised how precious those moments were, but looking back I really appreciate them now I’m through the baby/toddler fog.
FAVE HOBBY?
Not so much a hobby but I love a paper copy of UK Elle, Elle Decoration & Living Etc magazine. It’s not the same flicking through on a screen. I know I’m relaxed when I can sit and enjoy them. They all have to be British.
FAVE PIECES?
I’m really proud of my Sculptural vases ‘Coral Salad’ but I can’t live without my Ice / Flower Bucket, they are such a great size and add an easy pop of colour to your home.
