Susan Simonini

Susan Simonini is a multi-disciplinary artist, who completed a Bachelor of Fine Art at the Queensland College of Art, and exhibited her paintings and screen prints widely for over two decades. Several years ago, a move to rural Tasmania provided Susan with a wealth of inspiration, and she is now re-examining themes of place and belonging that have been a constant thread in her work. Her landscape and “shed” paintings are a series of layered impressions that allow for the aggregation of moments of light and shadow, perspective and time, that all combine to inform our experience of and connection to a place.

Susan has been a finalist in several awards, including Tidal 2020,The Churchie Emerging Art Award, the CPM Printmaking Awards, the Artworkers Award and in 2007 won the Border Art Prize and the Gold Coast Art and Design Awards.  Her work is held in numerous private and public collections including the Gold Coast City Art Gallery, The Mater Children’s Hospital and The Anglican Church Grammar School, Brisbane. Her work has appeared in many publications including Australian Home Beautiful, Australian Art Review and has been featured on The Design Files and Design Sponge.
