I was born in South Africa but grew up in Mozambique, surrounded by my Mozambican family and culture. I am of Mozambican and Portuguese descent; my mother and her family are native Mozambican and my dad comes from a Portuguese family. They are of opposing stories and backgrounds.
I studied fashion, but being creative I pursued art instead, to create work with purpose. I have lived in Melbourne, Australia for the past 5 years now where my partner is from and I am deeply inspired by the connection Australians have with art.
I create artwork that is sometimes inspired by the likeness and general emotion of the women that surrounded me growing up but also as a way to connect to my bi-racial identity. I draw or paint female figures as a reference to my mixed identity; the Divine feminine but ultimately: I try to explore the connection between life and death.
