Malangun in Wiradjuri translates simply to 'Girl'. This piece depicts a contemporary adaption for the traditional symbol for people sitting, as each U shape represents a person. In traditional Aboriginal culture, it was the women who primarily cared for their babies, and were often assisted by other women.
