Launching at 8:00 PM on 8th April online or in-store at Greenhouse Interiors Showroom & Gallery | 174-176 Ryrie Street, Geelong (Vic) 3220 Australia.
“Botanica” is a new body of work that combines my love of the Australian landscape with lush botanical forms. It’s a collection full of light and optimism featuring my trademark obsession with colour and texture.
The collection also celebrates an incredible 5-year milestone with Greenhouse Interiors. Partnering with GI has opened up my practice in a spectacular way and allowed me the freedom to push traditional boundaries by creating work that is inspired and passionate.
Creating original paintings for this body of work has elated and inspired me. Each new piece is loose, free-flowing and lavishly textured. I work with acrylic paint on canvas and build texture in each piece with brush and palette knife so each painting evolves with its own unique story.
I am inspired by texture, colour combinations and accidental gestures that come together to create each original work. As a painter I see colours, shapes and form but I also feel and express emotions. I soak it all up, think about it, rehash it then allow it to shape my creative practice – it all comes out on the canvas.
I have been painting professionally since 2007 and my work is held in collections across Australia and worldwide. Thanks to Julia’s talent and vision my work has been published in leading interiors magazines such as “Real Living”, “Home Beautiful”, “Inside Out” as well as a featuring recently in “The Age” with a piece written by Jackie Brygel for “Domain”.
I love that my art is accessible and ends up in some beautiful homes – I’m very fortunate and don’t take it for granted. I hope you enjoy the “Botanica” collection.
